15 Steps to Becoming a Tolerant Writer
There is enough space at the top for everyone to enjoy success
There are some obnoxious writers, who feel that success, fame, and fortune are their dues in life. There are a few of them, yes, you will find them even here on Medium.
Now, why do I call these writers obnoxious? They feel that this publishing platform was built for them and not for the “small fry” or the “tiny fish in the sea” writers.
The 15 Steps Quick Guide to Becoming a Tolerant Writer:
The Rules of Engagement: Always engage with your Readers and your Followers. It will make you feel good and it will make your readers and followers happier. Show your readers and followers your gratitude whenever possible, it is always the best attitude.
Read the work or other Writers: If you happen to be tagged in an article, at least take the time to scan the story.
Tagged: Always show your appreciation when other writers refer to you and your work in their stories and “tag” you in their writing.
Endorsement: Never fear that your readers and followers will leave you to follow another writer, that you have “endorsed” by commenting on their work.
Appreciation: By showing your appreciation for another writer, you are not going to help them to earn more than you. You will help them to grow as writers.
Writing Value: Never feel that you are putting in more effort than the other writers on the platform. Everyone here is trying to be a success with their writing. Whether they are Research Writers, Creative Writers, or Poets, every writer is equal and no one is better or worse than the other. Every writer’s work is precious and needs to be valued.
All About the Fame and the Glory: Do not jealously guard your fame, by not sharing your writing skills with other writers.
The Ordinary Writer: Always remember that before you became a popular writer, you were also an insignificant writer, nobody had heard of before in their life.
No Space at the Top: I know that you want to be a great success in life with your writing. There is enough space at the top for everyone to succeed.
Feeling Threatened: Your work needs to speak for itself. If you as a famous writer feel threatened, by the work produced by other writers, then you need to wonder why do you really write and if your writing is any good?
Money, Money, Money: If you as a popular writer, only write for the money it brings you, then it will be just piles and piles of money or “greenbacks”, that surround you for the rest of your life.
Keep Clapping and Never Stop: Always give a maximum of 50 Claps for stories that you read. It does not hurt your success by giving free claps of encouragement to other writers.
Sharing is Caring: Share the writings of other writers on Twitter and other social media platforms if you have time on your hands. This is what I enjoy doing, it is my way of encouraging other writers to keep on writing.
Never limit your Praise: Offer praise, guidance, and words of encouragement to other writers freely and without restraint. There may be some writers who need those words of praise when they feel that they and their literary efforts are not appreciated. I know the value of praise by giving and receiving it.
Stealing Ideas: Do not fear that other writers may steal your ideas and become great successes. As long as it is not plagiarism, ideas are everywhere for us to use. It is how the writer crafts the idea with his or her imagination and creativity to transform that idea into a complete literary piece that defines him or her as a writer.
I sincerely hope that this article serves as a reminder when you become a great and successful writer.
