A cold summer day
Wintry summer in London
In London summer can be fun,
We get the cold, the rain and the Sun.
It can be different almost every day.
As all four seasons come out to play.
On a warm summer day, you can feel cool,
There are times when you could even shiver.
Welcome to London and a wintry summer,
You can feel chilly in the morning like a winter,
As you watch your breath smoke disappear.
The temperatures go down to five degrees,
In the evenings and early mornings.
A coffee in the mornings is great we all agree.
The temperatures rise high to balmy degrees,
In the afternoons, when the sun brightly shines.
It is time for afternoon tea or a cake and wine.
Almost instantly we wear our summer clothes,
People are in gardens with barbeques and a hose.
Within a day and a couple of hours,
Things change, the Sun disappears,
A cool breeze begins as do our fears.
As dark rain clouds gather in the skies.
The rains come after the storms shake the trees.
We humans are so very difficult to please.
Almost as soon it all disappears as cold winds blow.
The thick coats need to be worn as you step outside.
With a wintry summer in London there is nowhere to hide.
