My Dearest Old Year,
Thank you for all the days and nights of warmth and comfort. The mornings of work, living and playing, were filled every morning and afternoon. Those lovely cold winter days, when we knew that you were looking over every one of us. Those warm summer days and nights, when the Sun shone upon us and we thought we could fly on the wings of every day of the year.
My sweetest old year, you were once young and we all waited in anticipation to see what the year held of each one of us. You took us through the rough days, we danced through the smooth ones and we embraced all our small victories with joy as we learned from our failures throughout the year. Thank you, old year for helping us to be better and understanding the days of the year, when things needed to be done, although the skies were grey and the weather stormy.
My beloved old year, the time has come for everyone and myself to wave you goodbye. You will not be forgotten, as every moment spent with you is etched in our memories. We are better human beings, for having lived through every day of the year with you. We love you and you will never be forgotten like an old photo frame on the mantle-piece.
A love note, from your beloved writer and poet.
