Geraldine was waiting for her transport. She was a professional photographer and enjoyed travelling to different parts of the world to take out photos. Geraldine has been working in the field since the age of seventeen. She loved her job. Thirty years later, she wished that traveling would be much faster and easier for her, as she was not getting any younger.
Five years ago, the Sky-taxis were created. She loved using this new mode of transport, as it was a lot faster than trains, planes, and automobiles. The Sky-taxis which looked high-tech and futuristic, was in the year 2050, and they were fast. The same problem of congestion was now happening in the skies. There were so many Sky-taxis, that everyone was using them, from teenagers to career people and the elderly. These modes of transport were easier, automated, and streamlined for power and efficiency. There were only four accidents recorded globally over the past five years. The Sky-Taxis were a boon to humanity, but air congestion was an issue that needed to be solved.
Today, was a special day. The governments and global transport department had created a new form of transport; that was tested globally, and it was ready to be rolled out globally. The Beam-transporter would be installed in every home. Every person would have the ability to be transported from one part of the world to another in seconds.
Geraldine had her bags ready. The Beam Transporter was installed in her home. She just needed to step into the large circular module, switch on the panel and she would be transported to China for her photography sessions.
The traveller stepped into the large transparent module, she set the date, time, and destination. Geraldine pressed the “Zoom to Destination” button and in three seconds, she was in China, medieval China. There was a glitch in the artificial intelligence teleporter that needed to be fixed. Geraldine was not going to panic, she had to find her way back, as she saw three menacing warriors on horseback, with spears in their hands approaching the teleporter, which was now a working Time Machine.
Life is full of surprises. Try to get ahead and you go backwards. Go with the flow? Another rock is hurled. Glitch in time. The worst thing to happen to a product not thoroughly tested. What about others? They lost in space?no short cuts. Luggage is lost in Outer Mongolia.
