Recently an astronaut lost a tool bag while doing a routine spacewalk. He must have been horrified when he lost his grip on the bag. Could he float after the object as it drifted away from him or should he just let it go? This must have been a difficult decision to make, as it has never happened before. Everything floats in space, even astronauts and tool bags.
Have you ever been in a position where you had to choose, whether to go after something or just let it drift away from you? If it was valuable to you perhaps you would pursue it till you found it. On the other hand, if you lost a pen in a flowing stream, you would not go after it. Yet, if your wallet or purse felt into a slow-moving stream, you most definitely, would try to retrieve it.
When the astronaut’s tool-bag does land somewhere, I wonder what the reaction will be for the person or persons who discover it. Hopefully, the bag does not land on anyone, as it can have fatal consequences. It should land on an open field or in a water body, we hope.
What if the astronaut’s lost tool bag arrives on another planet of less intelligent beings, like cavemen? It could possibly be the next stage of human evolution for those prehistoric people, from cavemen to tool-men.
