Do Not Pay A Writer
If you feel that you are a better writer….
Some of us enjoy reading the work of other writers, yet we do not subscribe or pay the writer for their work. There are a number of reasons why readers and fellow writers do not pay a writer for reading and appreciating their work.
This is a list of possible reasons, which ones would you choose?
1. I enjoy the literary work but do not agree with all the writer’s views.
2. I am unable to pay to subscribe to so many writers.
3. I am subscribed to many writers and my mailbox is always full.
4. I do not like the writing style of the writer.
5. I give my comments; claps, and I feel that is enough encouragement.
6. I feel the writer is rich and does not need my money.
7. I am envious of the success of the writer, and their work is addictive.
8. I am a much better writer, and they are really not that good to pay for their work.
9. The writer is always complaining in their work and that makes me depressed.
10. The writer has more followers and subscribers than I could have in my lifetime.
I would agree with a number of the points I have mentioned above for not paying a writer. Which ones would you select? There is no need to write it in the comments, if you are uncomfortable doing it. This was created so that readers would think about paying or not paying, and perhaps one day pay to subscribe to read the literary outpourings of writers they like.
I am appreciative of writers and create my own poetry and prose. But I am not rich and on limited income, but offer me own writing free. I get feedback accolades and that is my reward. If I want to submit to publishers I can.
This is a great post and needed to be said. There are so many writers here and we do not need to pay for each one. We are a community and support one another. I think over time, if we feel a strong connection with the work of a writer we might choose to pay. I find that I enjoy a lot of the work here, but as you mentioned in the list above, Warren, I may not agree with their views on many topics. For me, as a Christian, I am happy to like and comment, but I may disagree with their beliefs about God or their views on the Christian faith. I feel the same in recommending people.
