He always looked forward to having a hearty breakfast, when he was younger and his wife was alive. Edgar stayed on his own, after his wife died, ten years ago, he never remarried. He had two children who were living in foreign lands. He had visited both his children three years ago. They were married with their families and were always busy with their jobs.
Edgar never told anyone, not even his children that he was finding it difficult moving around. He was only sixty-five and his vision was failing. His spectacles did not help anymore. Edgar was getting cataracts in both eyes. He did not want to tell his children, or they would force him to go to the hospital for eye surgery and it was quite expensive.
Breakfast was something that Edgar enjoyed preparing every day. Over the past week, Edgar enjoyed the taste of the eggs, he would have with his bread, butter, and cheese. He also loved a fruit salad and a glass of almond milk to flush it down.
It was one week later and Edgar felt his eyesight improving. He went to his fridge and chose two eggs. Today, he looked closely at the large bluish eggs. That was unusual, Edgar thought to himself. He had to ask the grocery store owner, where he bought his eggs from in the marketplace.
The eggs and his breakfast were delicious that morning. After he had his breakfast, he went for a walk in the park. He bought the daily newspapers. On his way back home, he took a shortcut, through a narrow walkway, past an abandoned building. There was a lot of rubble on the pathway. He tripped and the last thing he saw, was the floor rising towards him. When Edgar awoke from the fall, he was in a strange place. He lay on a medical examination table. Lights were shining above him. He looked around but could not form any words. Several nurses and doctors were moving around. One of them came to him, looked at him, with her orange-colored eyes, and injected him, with a luminous green liquid.
The next day, Edgar awoke in his bed at home. He vaguely remembered having been on a large medical examination table, the soft humming of the vessel on which he was, it seemed of extraterrestrial origin. Edgar looked at himself in the mirror and could not believe his eyes, he was a young man and looked not older than twenty years old. He felt an odd sensation in his stomach but guessed it was just those odd-colored eggs he had eaten the previous day. This was good, he was young once again and he was excited, but so was the extra-terrestrial entity in his body.
