Samuel woke up at 4 am. He needed to be at the train station at 6 am. It was still dark, as he got ready to leave with his packed suitcase. It was an eight-hour trip to see his parents in the north. He was looking forward to this. It would also be an opportunity to go to his school reunion and perhaps see his old flame. He had heard on the grapevine that Heloise was single.
The train was empty when he got on. The day was lovely with blue cloudless skies and he bought himself a cup of coffee and a sweet bun to nibble on the ride. The train ride and the three lovely co-passengers, a group of ladies on their way for a wedding, were good company.
Then, suddenly, this sweet paradise was shattered. His coffee spilled and burnt his leg, as the train jerked. Everything went dark, as he heard a loud booming sound. When Samuel awoke, he was trapped in the rubble. He was dazed, as he looked around, and he feebly called out to the rescuers who were looking for people. Samuel’s leg hurt badly, and he could not see it, as it was trapped under a large wooden plank. He hoped that he could survive this train accident.
Samuel did want to see his elderly parents. He did want to go for that class reunion, and he did want to meet his old flame. Did he survive this ordeal? He did, though his right leg had to be amputated for him to live. He did meet his parents, but he did not get the girl of his dreams, she had found someone else.
