Fiction: Palace of Power
One Structure that held so many secrets

The village elders sat around the fire, discussing the fate of their great civilization. They knew that there was not enough time to save the treasures that only they knew and controlled. The treasures were a secret, and not many in the tribe knew about the riches. Who could they tell, and how could they hide this vast fortune that could change the destiny of mankind?
At that time, a young man entered the tent with a large pot of tea and ten cups on a tray. He placed the tray and cups in the centre of the circle, and the elders stopped their conversation to look at him. He started to serve the men tea, one by one, addressing each one by his name.
“Elder, Sun and Water, please accept my offering of this cup of tea,” said the young man as he handed the group leader his teacup.
“Thank you, Sirio”, said the old man, as he sat, cross-legged with his grey robe and hood over his head.
The young man continued serving tea and a portion of bread to all until he had finished his task.
He was about to leave the tent with the empty tray and teapot when the group leader asked him, “Sirio, how do you remember all our names, as we sit, with our hoods over our heads and our faces concealed?”
“That is very simple,” said the young man. I remember the circle and the positions that each man takes at all meetings, and they do not change. This is a special meeting, so you are hooded. I know the seat is taken because I see an image of the person’s name hovering over the spot where he sits in the circle.”
“Could you explain that to us,” said Sun and Water, the leader of the Elders. He was named Sun and Water as his father was from the East and his mother was from across the river.
“I see the image of a Sun rising and reflecting its image onto water and I know it is you, wise, Sun and Water. I see the image of a Grey Owl and know that it is the seat occupied by the Elder, known as “Grey Owl.”
“That is very clever, thank you,” said the Elder known as Timber Wolf.
The young man left the tent, happy that he could explain his memory technique to the revered Elders.
“Sirio, is not an ordinary young man,” said Sun and Water. “He does have extraordinary strength and wisdom. I am sure that he would be the best one to serve our purpose.”
The Elders nodded in agreement. They mapped out in the sand on the floor, the spots where the treasures of ancients were buried. For each spot, they drew a totem, that would represent the treasure and its location. They next developed a story of the Palace of Power. A group of people discover the Palace of Power, but it is empty. They are upset and proceed to destroy the large halls, that were plastered with frescoes and carvings. In every room there is a totem, they wonder what they are for and try to understand their significance. It is only when a scholar proceeds to draw every totem does, he discovers that they show the location of the treasure buried by the people of that long-lost civilization. This story is told to the young man Sirio and the location of all the treasures connected to every totem in the story.
When the strange invaders arrive from beyond the stars, they do not find the objects they had left behind buried in the earth. Almost every person in the village is killed. Sirio escapes and travels for seven years, till he arrives in a new country on another continent. Sirio marries and has four children, he tells his eldest son, the story of the “Palace of Power”.
A few centuries later, a young man arrives at a forgotten part of the world in Machu Picchu. Arjun is looking for the “Palace of Power”, which was passed on to him from his ancestor Sirio. Arjun discovers the secret totems and the treasures. He uses the five large extraterrestrial diamonds of Peace, Love, Unity, Health and Prosperity to change the world of the future.
