Ronnie saw the mangoes and he was tempted to taste one of them. They looked so delicious and he could imagine eating them, slurping each one, as he scooped it from the inside of the fruit. The sweetness and the soft taste of the fruit on his tongue, brought back so many childhood memories.
Ronnie and his father would go shopping for fruits on a Sunday afternoon. It was always a special time for father and son, as they walked from vendor to vendor in their neighbourhood, to choose and buy the best and most appetizing looking fruits.
Ron’s mother Janet would always say that after the monsoons in India, mangoes were the fruits to buy. The mango would be tasty, sweet and it would give off a heavenly aroma, after it had been in the rains. However, if a person was desperate to taste the mango, before the rains, it was advised to dip the fruit into cold water and let it soak for an hour. This would remove the heat from the core of the fruit. This was naturally done by nature after the monsoon rains in India.
After my lunch today. I picked up a large delicious looking mango, from my fruit tray at home. I soaked the mango in a bowl of water for thirty minutes, and then sliced it into three parts. I scooped out the sweet and delicate insides of the fruit and enjoyed its sweetness. I have tasted the first mango of the season and it was heavenly, believe me!

I haven't had a mango for a very long time. Your post has brought the scent and taste back to my memory.
