Five Steps Away from the Precipice
Writing Prompt: The last time you were at the precipice, literally or emotionally
There are many people who are daring and enjoy living at the edge. This is true for stuntmen and stuntwomen. There are some people who are able to stand at the precipice of a situation emotionally and then decide whether they should move ahead or step away from a new event or situation in their lives.
I have been five steps away from the precipice, literally, when I visited the hill station of Darjeeling in India. It was scary, but it was emotionally invigorating. The spot where my family and I stood was on Margaret’s deck, which is just at the foothill of the Himalayas, near the Darjeeling Himalayas Railway route.
As a writer, there have been moments, when I have received ideas, that I was not sure about writing. Should I take the plunge and write the article or story, or should I leave it for later, or for someone else, who knows more about the subject, to compose? This was the way I felt a few years ago, when I wanted to write about AI, but was not sure about the topic and all it intricacies. It was years later, that I was confident about the subject, after dabbling with Chat-GPT and AI image generators, that I wrote my first articles. It was a great feeling to know that I had stood on the edge of the subject years ago, but I could write the articles and stories later in life.
Have you had such a situation in life, where you were at the precipice, literally, physically or emotionally, and what are your feelings about that experience today?
