How to Encourage Creativity

Opening your mind and eyes to see more

Our minds are shut from most of what the world has to offer us, as we have learned this the hard way. There has always been a lot of information circulating in the world. Today, we get more information than we could ever need or utilize effectively. Every day we are bombarded with information, that varies in tone and presentation. With the advent of the internet, there is even more information, authentic or not, generated on a continuous basis.

We need to open our minds, hearts, and eyes to view more of what the world has to offer after we skip all that is useless and does not serve our needs. Appreciation is a habit we need to develop for the world around us and for everything we see and it also includes our family, friends, and ourselves. Appreciate the beauty of life and all that gives to us, from our society, careers, interests, life, and entertainment.

Encourage creativity in your life, by doing creative things, or creatively doing ordinary things. Take up a new hobby, join a group that does something you like such as reading books, writing poetry or comedy. Open your mind to every possibility, as you do your day-to-day work. There are many ways to do a task in life. Find creative ways and invent new ways to do things. If you enjoy a cup of tea, make a fresh cup of tea using some new tea bags, there are a whole range of them.

Keep a journal and fill it with ideas that come to your mind. If you like architecture, try sketching buildings, bridges, and other architectural structures and details. If you enjoy history and anything historical, visit the museum and discover history for yourself. Write a poem about something that interests you. Paint a picture or sketch the latest scenery you photographed.

Open your mind, heart, and eyes, to appreciate and celebrate the ordinary things in an inventive and creative way.
