Out-Of-This-World Cookies

The taste was just out there

There was a long queue from the entrance of the new shop to the bus stand that was a mile away. It was the newest shop that had suddenly popped up one day, on a long road, near a solitary bus stand. It was a shop that sold warm and freshly baked cookies managed by an elderly couple. They stayed in two rooms above the shop.

Everybody loved to eat those cookies. The news traveled far and wide as people who lived in the city and surrounding towns found their way to taste those delicious chocolate muffins and cookies. People of all ages came to taste the best cookies in the world. Some babies had become addicted to the items, as had octogenarians who visited from the nearby home for the elderly. The taste of those cookies was out-of-this-world.

The best part about those sweet and Savory muffins and cookies was that they had the taste that you remembered from your childhood. All the items looked the same. A few individuals started to have strange dreams. In the beginning, these dreams were calming and some would say they were sweet. Later the dreams started to turn into nightmares, with adventures in strange lands, with strange four-handed and three-legged extra-terrestrials. The dreamers started to watch themselves and their friends, transform into these strange aliens, in their nightmares.

One day a reporter got a call from his Editor to cover the story. He drove down to the spot to speak to the owners and the residents of the nearby towns and villages. When Edmund, arrived at the scene, he was in for a big surprise. There was no shop or owners. The residents of the nearby villages and towns had all disappeared. He drove his car through the ghost towns, and villages and noticed that in every home he entered, he got the smell of muffins and cookies in the air. There were clean plates on the tables, but not a crumb of a cookie or muffin was on the tables. He had always wanted to taste, those “Out-of-this-World Cookies,” and it was said that “The Taste was out there. ”Edmund would never get that opportunity, was he lucky or unlucky?
