Yesterday, I heard a radio announcer say, “What would you put in your bag, or case if you could put your life in a bag?”. That got me thinking about how we collect so many things in life for a lifetime bag. Stuff that we need and do not really need, but feel that we will need in the future.
If I actually wanted to put my life in a bag or a suitcase, what would I put in it? I love watching movies and have a large collection of DVDs. Yet, I cannot put a DVD player or DVDs, in a suitcase. I do have a number of movies that I can stream online from streaming platforms. So, I would not take any of my DVDs in my case.
I would definitely need, clothes, toiletries, not a large collection. The other essentials that I must have are my books and comics. I have many reference books, which are not available or are too expensive on e-book readers. However, I do have a number of e-books in my Kindle library, so that is fine with me and enough to sustain my need to read books.
Would you be willing to put your life in a bag? I would add my personal documents. A laptop would be a great addition to my collection, as I would be able to put my thoughts, ideas, and concepts into articles, stories, and poems, for publishing. Items related to family and career would also be useful and necessary, for future reference. Do you have a checklist, that you could prepare for yourself for your lifetime bag?
A knife to cut my way through the rest of my life off the beaten grid.
