Remembering Lost Lives on Hiroshima Day, 6th August 2024
In 1945, the United States detonated two nuclear bombs on two cities in Japan, Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Today is the 6th of August, Hiroshima Day. Let us take a moment to pray for those who lost their lives 79 years ago. The United States detonated two nuclear bombs over two Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on the 6th of August 1945.
The bombings killed between 150,000 to 246,000 people this day, 79 years ago. Those souls, who were living their lives, had their lives stolen from them. On the 15h of August, six days later, Japan surrendered to the allies. Their descendants of those civilians are still living today and the effects of that nuclear attack, has passed down generations. This was the first time, that nuclear bombs were detonated, during a war, and hopefully it will be the last.
The Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) was implemented in 1970, that prevents any country using nuclear weapons during times of war. This is an international treaty and also promotes cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy and to further the goal of nuclear disarmament, general and complete disarmament. This Treaty has fostered a secure environment, that has enabled the dramatic reduction of nuclear stockpiles worldwide.
Light a few candles, at your home or in your place of worship, as we send our prayers to heaven, for all those 246,000 people who died or were injured in that nuclear attack, on this day 6th August, 79 years ago. Let us hope that this course of action is never resorted to in the future of human civilization.
