The wealth, the fame, and the fortune,
Were his throughout the year, from May to June.
He found his faith and his reverence,
For earthly goods of material significance.
All the wealth of the world was his,
He lived like a king and granted all wishes.
He lived his life the way he wanted to,
A life of luxury and decadence was his due.
He bowed at the altar of material wealth,
It brought him a fortune and also good health.
He played with the fragile lives of others,
His pawns were his sisters and brothers.
The world was offered to him on a plate,
He was worshipped like a deity in every state.
A large mansion, with servants on an estate,
With high walls and a large ornamental gate.
He looked at himself in the mirror every day,
Knowing that his wealth grew in every way.
He bowed in reverence at who he had become,
A living legend, a wealthy man and tycoon.
Then suddenly one day and not too soon,
He lost everything in a terrible cyclone.
It was only after he was reduced to rags,
Keeping his possessions in plastic bags,
That he realized the error of his wicked ways,
Repenting and begging forgiveness on all days.
On a hot summer day, he saw the light,
The illumination of his spiritual sight.
He now bows in reverence before the Divine,
That blesses him with its spiritual sign.
He has changed his life and mended his ways,
He has opened his home to welcome all strays.
Every day and every night he rests his head,
As he mutters his chants and prays in bed.
He had a spirituality so bright and deep,
With worship and reverence to keep.
His soul is lit with the fires of true reverence,
A shining light of deep spiritual significance.
