It was on a warm summer day,
When winter had blown away,
When she woke up to find,
Something that blew her mind.
There was just a tiny flutter,
A slight weight on her back,
Like there was something tugging,
Something weighing her down,
From beneath her sleeping gown.
She turned around in shock to see,
Freshly created wings in perfect symmetry.
It felt odd to see tiny wings on her back,
It must be a nightmare for sure she thought.
Jane felt it was unbelievable and shook her head,
And decided to drink water and go back to bed.
She could not sleep and had to awake,
She had wings, that certainly took the cake.
That morning Jane walked around the room,
With her new iridescent colored wings,
With her worries among other things.
Eight years have flown swiftly by
In the flutter and the blink of an eye.
Jane looks out through her kitchen window,
She sees her two daughters with their wings,
Flying as if it was the most natural thing.
Jane was dressed up in her uniform,
She was an aerial rescuer in her town,
Part of a winged police force unit,
Fighting crime with wings, guts, and grit.
Growing wings was not new anymore,
It was part of the evolution of new humanity,
People could fly over both land and sea.
Genetic engineering made it now possible,
For man and woman to ascend and fly,
Up and away through the blue sky.
Jane looked with joy at her iridescent wings,
She appreciated this gift for the joy it brings.
