I have always enjoyed discussing topics with my Dad and still do to this day. I found that as a writer it is important to share and discuss ideas. In the past and also today, though not as common, are Writer Clubs and Discussion Boards and Forums for Writers.
It is important to always have a sounding board for your ideas. A couple of brainstorming sessions with someone else helps you as a writer to discover what works and what does not in a story.
Again, I would like to reiterate, if you are afraid that an idea could be stolen, it is just possible that you have taken a well-used idea yourself. There are not many unique story ideas, but the same ones that are used in different ways and forms.
It is the skill, style, and presentation of an idea by a writer, that gives it that unique flavor. Every writer possesses a secret sauce that consists of perspective, life experiences, and knowledge that make his or her literary presentation to the world special in every way.
I have discovered over the years that the secret to releasing and opening the floodgates of knowledge, ideas, and creativity, is by offering what you receive in your mind, from the muses and the universe to those who can use it.
Since I started writing years ago I decided to always share my writing experiences with other writers. I have read and still read a large number of books on the art and craft of writing. We never have enough knowledge, nor can we all know everything we need to know as writers.
Just as any professional and every expert needs to constantly learn and re-learn his or her craft, so do we as writers. Learning the use of imagination and creativity, to make literary presentations that evoke a positive response in the minds and the hearts of our readers, is every writer’s ultimate goal.
This is the real reason that I encourage other writers in the craft of writing. As it is a shared experience we both grow from it. Discussing literary art is a way to evolve as a writer. A sharing of ideas, concepts, and experiences is mutually beneficial to the giver and the taker of that creative, literary exchange.
Have I succeeded as a writer in helping you to realize the value and the worth of sharing your knowledge and offering guidance to other writers today, tomorrow, and for the future?
As my secret is not a secret any longer, I would like to request you to share your thoughts on this article, while highlighting the benefits of helping other writers as they make their way on the Writer’s Way. Now take the opportunity to be a helpful writing mentor.
If a writer walks on the path just for fame and fortune, he or she will be sadly disappointed. To be a success in the field of writing and publishing, apart from a windfall or great social connections, we all need to put in the time for developing our writing skills every day. This is essential, as well as developing a community of writers who assist one another on the path to success as we all walk, run and ride on our literary creations to the sunrise of imagination and creativity.
To be a good writer just write for yourself, jealously guarding your ideas, knowledge keeping them close to your chest so that no one knows the thoughts in your mind and the secrets of your genius creativity.
To be a well-formed and evolved person and writer, share your guidance and knowledge with other aspiring writers. This is the secret to opening the floodgates of ideas from the universe into your mind, which you can transform into inspired thoughts for positive evolution in the literary world of mankind.
