There are some of us, who do not have the ability to be patient in life. If we want to get something, we go out and buy it immediately. If we want to contact a person, we either message, phone or email them in a matter of minutes. There are times when we need to go somewhere, interesting or not, we immediately, drive down, or hop onto a plane, bus, cab or train to get there, after we have finished our work at the office or just taken a day off instead, without the guilt.
On the other hand, there are individuals, who are patient. They will wait patiently to get what they want in life. If they really need to see or hear from someone, they will wait till they are contacted by the other person. If they are longing for something like an electronic gadget, a book or any other item, they will wait for weeks, sometimes, months and years to get it without feeling guilty.
I have found that although I am quick at doing things, like writing, cooking, walking or any other work, I tend to slow down when working on computers. I learned that “haste makes waste”, as far as any work done on a computer. Furthermore, I always think three times, before I hit the “Enter” button. Errors did occur in my work and in writings, as I was too hasty for it to be completed and to “put it out there”, in the World Wide Web.
A few key elements to the Art of being patient are given below:
1. Time is precious, but so is your life and anything that you need to do.
2. If it is meant for you, you will get it in time.
3. Speed is great, and it can be achieved, if you streamline your working methods.
4. If you wait a while to get something, you will appreciate it so much more, when you have it with you.
5. Being patient will reduce all the stress that you have in life.
6. Taking time to do work, will increase your efficiency and productivity.
7. Learn the art of being patient, by practising ten minutes of meditation, mindfulness and positive visualization daily.
I am not a patient person, but I have now trained myself to being patient. It is not easy to do, but it is possible. Are you a patient person, and has being patient helped you in life? Do you prefer being impatient, and what are the benefits you have enjoyed as an impatient individual?
