The Attic of Murders-1
Angela gently flipped through the old diary of her grandmother, Scarlet Rose. Angela was going through all the boxes that were stored in her ancestral home. Her Grandfather Withbert passed away nine months ago. Angela had returned from her job in the city as a stockbroker, to live and work in the town where she had grown up with her parents and grandfather. Angela had always loved books, so it was natural for her to set up her own bookstore in the town. The people loved her store and she was pleased.
As the young woman read the yellow pages of her diary, she smiled to herself. Her grandmother Scarlet Rose was just a typical young woman in the seventies, she had her dreams, hopes and aspirations. The diaries were interesting and her grandmother was an accomplished lady with her own florist shop.
At the bottom of the large chest in the attic were four large brown cardboard boxes, each was tied with a silken black bow. Each of the boxes, was packed with small black diaries. Angela was curious, what could be in these thick black diaries and there were several of them.
As Angela read each diary, on that fateful day, she was amazed and shocked. Was her grandmother Scarlet Rose a murderer?
The Attic of Murders-2
Scarlet Rose kept great details of people who were murdered in the town and in the city. There were newspaper clippings, there were notes on each victim. Also included in the diary were murder scenes and photos of the victims. Were all these diaries simply records of the crimes that took place in the city or did Angela’s grandmother have a part to play in them. Was it possible that Scarlet Rose was a private investigator, working with the police force in the town and city? Could Scarlet Rose have been a murderer and these black diaries were mementoes?
The next day, Angela went to the local library to read the old newspapers of the town and the city. After spending over three hours, she was surprised to find the name of her grandmother appearing with a by-line for all the articles about the murders in the city and town. Angela’s grandmother Scarlet Rose was a murder investigative reporter and it seemed that she loved her work.
Angela realized that all the diaries that she had found were research records related to all the murders that Scarlet Rose had solved. There was an abundance of cases and each case was different, clever, evil and ingenious.
On the last page of the last diary, there was a note written in pencil, by Scarlet Rose, “There is still one case that needs to be solved, titled “Blood Legacies” and it will continue for decades to come, if the killer is not arrested. Even the death of this killer will not put a stop to the murders.”
Angela was curious, perhaps the murders had stopped after two decades had gone by, since the last diary entry and the death of her grandmother. Angela was about to discover that the murders were continuing and there was not just one murderer, but several with one purpose, to remove certain families in society.
