It falls in love and falls out of it,
It beats within us our whole life.
It is a soft and gentle sound,
That resonates our whole life around.
The human heart is a warm and powerful,
It puts life into the human being.
Created in its complexity to work well,
It keeps ticking and working well.
When life and love come to an end,
Ready to whisper goodbye to family and friend,
The heart within the body slowly stops,
Like a clock that silently ticks and stops.
With the operation of the transplanted heart,
Hope is given to another life that needs it.
The heart begins to pump life once again,
As the renewed human body does its life attain.
Poet’s Note: This Poem is dedicated to the memory of Victor Chang the pioneer of the heart transplant in Australia.
