In the town of Vinestone, there was a small bookshop that sold the most beautiful books and ornaments. During the festive season, the store was decorated with a Christmas tree with colourful lights. The bookstore always had the latest books, as well as those that were rare.
Janet was the daughter of Kathryn, the owner of the bookstore. She loved her job and she took up working at the bookstore after she finished her education, at the local university. Janet was a bright and intelligent girl, but she chose to remain in the town with her mother, taking care of the bookstore after her father Jerry passed away in a boating accident.
There was a gift-wrapping competition in the nearby city of Kornerstone. The elderly Mrs. Johnson entered the “Book Paradise” bookstore and the first thing she did was to inform Kathryn about the gift-wrapping competition. Janet was so excited when she heard about the competition, from her mother Janet and immediately signed up for the Christmas Eve event.
On that day, Janet was excited. She was confident about gift-wrapping, as she had been doing it for years. She was trained by her late father. Janet was told to wrap ten Christmas gifts of different dimensions and she had fifteen minutes only. She completed the task and at the end of the competition, the results were announced. Janet was the winner for wrapping ten presents perfectly.
What was truly amazing was the fact that Janet Myers was blind from the time of her birth, yet she had mastered the art of visualizing and completing every task in her life. As writers, we need to value our senses and know that the power of visualization is tremendous and we need to use this skill in all aspects of our life and it will enhance the power of storytelling.
