Almost every family in society has its own unique legacy, that is passed down from generation to generation. In the old days, the profession of the father went to the son, the skills of the mother were passed down to the daughter or son. Today, this is not the case, with more children deciding not to choose the professions of their parents. The son of a butcher or the daughter of a baker, may not necessarily choose the occupation of their parents.
The family legacy extends beyond just the professions of the parents to the relatives in the family. It could be something as simple as recipes, that get passed down from generation to generation, with each adding onto the special culinary skills over the years. There are families who are great collectors of coins, stamps or other memorabilia, which get passed down from one generation to the next.
There are some families who have unique skills like carpentry, or tailoring or shoemaking or toymaking that is passed down from the grandparents or the father or mother to their children. It Is up to the children, to take up the skills or to at least learn the skills of the family legacy. My father passed down his writing skills to me, and I am pleased that I am able to carry on that family legacy.
