Life as a writer can be chaotic at times. We writers wander around with our heads filled with ideas just waiting to be written, typed, published, and shared. We are all guilty of sometimes being disconnected from the real world, as we escape into our own imaginary world, filled with ideas for articles, stories, and poems.
We hear about parking meters, electric meters, gas meters, and now story meters, where stories are being metered based on the number of readers who view or read your work, and follow you as a subscriber or as a reader. Every story that we compose as a writer gets metered, whether the story gets monetized or not.
Our lives are being metered whether we wish to accept this or not. We live our lives within time frames and our whole life is dependent on a time frame whether it is voluntary or involuntary. As writers, we need to monitor and meter our writing lives so that we can spend a sufficient amount of time living, loving, playing, working, and writing, if it is a side hustle or a full-time occupation.
Every writer needs to realize the importance of metering his or her writing life so that there is a balance between life and work. When we meter our writing life, we are less stressed and we are capable of producing so much more in a shorter period of allocated time.
So, whether it is 20 minutes a day or one hour a day devoted to writing, keep that time aside and focus your full attention on the wonderful art and craft of writing. Your content will be richer and you will be providing invaluable content for readers and fellow writers to enjoy.
