Dear Readers, Writers and Poets,
The month of May has arrived, and it deserves to be celebrated by Poets. Here at Zen Poetry, we are inviting poets to send in their May celebratory poetry. Take the time to meditate and to “see and feel”, the month of May.
Write a poem, in any form, that captures your feelings and your responses to the month of May. Here is an excerpt for the poem, “The Merry Month of May”, by Thomas Dekker (c. 1572–1632), an English Elizabethan dramatist and pamphleteer.
“O the month of May, the merry month of May,
So frolic, so gay, and so green, so green, so green!
O, and then did I unto my true love say:
“Sweet Peg, thou shalt be my summer’s queen!”
The Flowers of Life in May by
Every flower that blooms,
It is radiant, delicate and bright.
The song of nature can be heard,
In every stream and every bird.
The flowers of life bloom in May.
Every person can feel the music,
As it fills their minds and hearts.
A song that never ends or departs.
The Merry month of May,
We could ask it to stay.
Nature paints a picture bright,
That surrounds the world in its light.
Write your poetic tribute,
Like a tune that leaves a flute.
Write a Zen filled poetic rhyme,
Celebrate the season and this time.
Have a wonderful May
Nice prompt - do you accept only poetry in your pub or also poetic like pieces?
