The Mindset and World of the Global Citizen
Will the day arrive when we are all global citizens?

We often hear people say that they would like to be global citizens? Is it because there are more opportunities available when a person has more access to the world. An individual is not ties down to one place of residence or work, and he or she is able to travel anywhere around the world to live and work, without the need for travel documents of any kind. He or she is a citizen of the world. Is this possible, yes, it is, however, there are a number of rules that need to be followed and a lot of paperwork, legal documents and banking documentation that need to be completed.
On the other hand, a global citizen can also refer to an individual who treats the world and it people as one. He or she is comfortable living and working in any part of the world. This means that the person is tolerant of other people, religions, capable of living in other countries, adjusted to other cultures, food, customs and traditions.
Digital nomads are global citizens in the truest sense of the term. They live and work in countries that they do not hold citizenship for or where they were not born. These individuals adapt to the land, its values, the people, the language, the food, beliefs and its customs, while having a deeper understanding of the culture of the people of the new country they call home. However, as the years go on and the digital nomads live and work far from home, it does not take long before they feel lost, lonely and separated from their families. A number of YouTube videos related to digital nomads inform us that they feel an urgent need and desire to return home to be with their families, and the life of a digital nomad is not for them. What are your experiences as a digital nomad?
A person who identifies as having a global citizen mindset, is an individual who seeks to develop a relationship with people from other countries, is willing to understand and learn more about cultures, needs, philosophies, religious beliefs and respect cultural differences.
The global citizen tries to bridge distances between people, while creating awareness about global issues. The world, its issues, its preservation, the health and happiness of every individual matters to a person who is truly a global citizen. It may be impossible for any human being to be able to display all the magnanimous traits of a global citizen, but we can all do our best, to make this world a united, loving and happier world.
The future is arriving soon, and we may all become global citizens, in the next decade, with the opportunity to become digital nomads, who live and work in other countries, than the country in which they were born or grew up in as citizens. It is never too late to cultivate the positive attitudes of a global citizen, to understand the way the world works, to make an attempt to understand customs, cultures and beliefs of the people of the world.
