The Most Magical Place
Writing Prompt: Where is your special place of magic?
There are people who live and are surrounded by magic and yet do not realize it. Are you one of these people? We have heard about special places, like great tourist spots, we would want to visit. A few of us have realized those dreams and travelled to those places of tranquillity and magic. There are others who read about places in the world and are arm-chair travellers who visit virtually, through the mediums of cinema, television travel series and recently many can do this using augmented reality and other forms of virtual travel to far of destinations.
Have you found the most magical spot in your life or are you still searching for it? I have visited a number of scenic spots in India and in the United Kingdom over the last few decades. Those places were filled with special memories that are now magic whenever I remember them. However, there is one place that has been a constant source of inspiration and creativity, where my imagination is set free and that is the world of the magical silver screen.
Yes, I love watching movies and this was encouraged by my parents. When I was young, I remember that there were days when my father would take us, my mother, sister and myself to three different movies at the weekend. We would go for the noon show, step out for lunch and the in to the next hall for the matinee show. There would be a few hours between shows, when my family would go to have tea and snacks. The third show we would go to see would be the 6 pm evening show. At the end of watching our three-movie marathon we would rush home, happy, thrilled and exhausted, have dinner, warm cups of refreshing tea and then go into a deep slumber at night. This revelation of cinema magic was my parents’ legacy and it is something that has remained with me today.
I do not need to visit the cinema hall my magical place, to watch movies today, when I can watch the best ones I love and enjoy, in the comfort of my home. I either watch these entertaining films on a streaming service online on television or switch on my DVD players and select a good one, from my DVD collection. I have found the most magical place and it is the realm of cinema. Have you discovered your place of magic, peace, and tranquillity yet?
For me, it's the woods. There's definitely magic under our tall brothers.
