When the photos were fresh and new,
You were both alive and well it is true.
The bright photos were shiny and bright,
As you both radiated its vibrant light.
The photos were once so alive,
Yet now they look so faded and dull.
The souls have flown from this earthly plane,
To a heavenly abode they visit again.
When photos fade and curl over time,
Do our memories fade of our loved ones?
They left us alone as they travelled ahead,
To a land of green pastures where sheep are led.
Our loved ones who passed away do they smile,
As we ponder our own mortality for just a while.
Do our feelings fade away for loved ones slowly gone,
Like a last goodbye in a last sigh before they move on?
I know that my heart still has an empty feeling,
Still in need of comfort and of healing.
I know that my parents are together in a spiritual world,
Where good deeds are rewarded like heavenly pearls.
Old photos may fade, curl and fly away,
But the love in our hearts will always stay.
The bonds of love are not broken with time,
A poet weaves a sons’s love in this rhyme.
