Samurai Wisdom
“Victory is reserved for those who are willing to pay its price.”

Some people begin the writer’s journey early in life. At the same time, others begin much later in life. Some are keen to write and express their ideas and creativity but never seem to have the time. At the same time, others have been writing and publishing their work since they were teenagers or younger.
Several people, who were not interested in writing, came to learn and enjoy the literary craft later in life. Does it help to become a writer later in life? I feel that a life filled with experiences does help a person to infuse his or her writings with so many well-lived emotions. On the other hand, when an individual takes to writing from an early age, he or she also has that great opportunity of evolving as a person, while developing as a writer, who is proficient in the art and craft of writing.
Some writers make great sacrifices in their lives, to sustain their lives while trying to make a success of themselves as writers. Being a writer was not an easy career several decades ago and we are all familiar with the concept of the “hungry writer”. Today, we have vast opportunities to become writers and publish our work independently and through established publishing houses.
Being a writer is a lonely task. Though many writers enjoy their own company, as they have the chance to gather their ideas, and put them into interesting literary pieces, like poetry, novellas, blog posts, novels, and short stories. Non-fiction writers, also sacrifice time away from friends, and family, to put all their research work together into interesting compositions, for publication.
Is being a writer, worth it in the long term? Yes, I feel that being a writer is a gift and a way for us to share our ideas, imagination, and creativity, for a world of readers to enjoy. What do you feel as a writer, are you doing something you enjoy and does it make a difference in the world?
I didn't start writing until my early 50s, I'm 64 years old. It would have been better if I started when I was younger, but I'm making up for lost time, and I do believe that life experience makes my writing better, but still wish I started earlier.
