Purpose served, did they get what they deserved?
Where will they go, what will they do, and what will they become?
Could these trees have memories tied to their pines and their shrivelled leaves?
Abandoned trees, left to wither in the cold winter breeze.
Perhaps these trees will be returned to their empire of pines and leaves.
A few weeks ago, the Christmas tree was on the stage.
Getting a new tree was the great festive rage.
Baubles and streamers of colour were draped,
All around the branches of the Christmas tree.
Every tree was lit with light and sparkled beautifully.
A few weeks later after the photos are taken,
After all the gifts and memories are shared,
The trees lie broken and discarded on the road.
Yet, these trees carry a heavy memory load.
Who will rescue or save this tree hoard?
Can you hear the tiny cries and screams?
The Christmas tree carries hopes and dreams.
The tree lies on the roadside without its jewellery.
Let us remember all the lost Christmas trees.
They served us well and we are pleased.

They provide nutrients for the soil.
I did always wonder, "Where do these trees go?"
