Samurai Wisdom
“A warrior is worthless unless he rises above others and stands strong in the midst of a storm.”
-Yamamoto Tsunetomo
Every writer is like a warrior, who needs to fulfill his or her mission in life. A warrior is given a mission and he goes out to achieve that goal, armed with all that he needs, like a horse to take him where he needs to go, armor to protect him in battle, and a weapon to defend and attack his enemy. A writer, on the other hand, is armed with his or her knowledge, wisdom, creativity, imagination, and the tools that are needed to create his or her literary pieces.
There are days, when we may not like writing, especially, after an event at work or home, that could be deflating. Such as things going wrong, bills that need to be paid, misunderstandings, unhappy news or changes in circumstances, disagreements, and the list can go on. Those are the days, when we as writers, need to put our writing aside and take time to resolve those issues that are troubling us.
It is only once we have the peace of mind to sit down and write once again, that we can work towards our writing objectives. My writing objectives are to write every day, to publish my fiction, and non-fiction, to write blog posts, to create YouTube videos, and to share my work on social media.
The beauty of writing is that it is therapeutic and it can help you to weather any storm in life, as a writer. When I write fiction, poetry, or articles, I am always infusing it with my life experiences, whether I am aware of doing it or not. This helps me to clear my mind and to strengthen my thought processes. Always look to improving your knowledge and abilities In the literary craft and this will help you to develop your style and voice, which in turn helps you to stand out as a writer, in a sea of a billion writers.
Keeping your mind focused on what matters to you in life, from your career, your family, home, children, friends, and hobbies, can help you to become a better writer while improving every aspect of your personal and writing life.
