There has to be a meaning for all this.
The life we live with so much earnest,
The love we have, lose or cling onto,
The work that we do every day.
There must be a purpose and a plan.
The great solution to every complexity.
People live and work in one city or in a hundred.
A billion lives that grow in every way, every second.
A billion souls searching for answers every day.
What do you think about all this anyway?
The colour of the stars in the skies.
The free flowing of truth, wisdom and lies.
The asteroids that fly into deep space.
Lives moving through time and leaving no trace.
The cosmos that keeps unfolding every second.
A trillion stars that are shining, living and dying.
Good honest people, living, working and sighing.
The lives of so many entering into the world.
While billions leave the physical plane,
A billion more arrive with new life to regain.
What do you think about all this anyway?
We need to realize who we are,
We need to fulfil our lives and potential.
We need to look inside and realize,
That we have the opportunity to strive,
To reach for the stars in the darkest skies.
We are not simply souls gliding through time,
We are beings of power and great divine purpose.
We have a reason to live, love and work this life,
To sail the stream and to follow its course.

You articulate the hopes and dreams of many. I wonder whether your views on reaching goals are realistic for me, a woman who has been a beloved teacher helping hopeless, learning resistant adolescents with low self-esteem, damaged from childhood trauma shake away their pain. I hugged so many as they expressed emotions through creative, honest writing. It isn't fair that some children should feel empty and others nurtured or even smothered and protected with parental love like I was. Then again, for years, I've been trying to reach a special goal, but haven't gotten there. Sometimes tenacity, seeking advice from friends and adjusting my goals and re-tweaking myself isn't enough. So, I pause and thank G-d for blessing me with parents, children, grandchildren, a husband and some friends with whom I have in the past and will in the future, create pleasant memories. I will not allow frustration to take away my happiness. What a beautiful mind-altering poem. Thank you.
