The wedding was a month away. Rachel and Winston were preparing for it and thought they had everything ready for the big day. The live band was arranged to play for the reception dinner, the Church and the Priest were also booked. The catering company was also booked for the main day. Everything was ready, including the bridal gown, the wedding cake and the wedding rings.
There was a lot of planning involved for the wedding. Rachel, her three sister, Lorna, Ruth and Andrea were very helpful in planning all the decorations for the Church and the wedding reception. Rachel’s parents and the in-laws to be were equally excited, as Rachel and Winston were sweethearts since school.
However, they were not prepared for the earthquake that shook the entire city at the end of May. The city was in chaos and all their wedding plans went up in smoke. The Church and the reception hall were damaged in the quake, that was of enormous proportions. There were at least two families who lost their homes in sinkholes. Luckily no one was injured and almost everyone managed to escape from both homes. However, there were a number of tragedies in several parts of the city.
June came a bit too soon. The wedding was a few days away. Rachel and Winston, who loved each other deeply, decided to do the unthinkable, they eloped to Hawaii and got married. They remembered to do a live recording of the event, so that friends and family could be a part of their celebration. Two months later, when life went back to being normal, they had a big wedding celebration in their city with friends and family. Life needs to go on and everything happens at the right time, though it may seem it is sometimes the wrong time.
