Why We Write?
Is it for fame, fortune and glory?
There are some writers who write for fame, to be published and to have the world know that they are writers. There are others who write for the money, they want to make a fortune, to change their lives and the lives of friends and family. There are others who write to be remembered, long after they have gone. They want their work to be for posterity. There are others who write to make a difference in the world and because they enjoy the art and craft of story.
Why do you write? I write because I enjoy creating worlds of story. It is an opportunity for me to share my ideas and thoughts using the medium of stories, with a good dose of imagination and creativity. The most complex thoughts can be made simple and much easier to understand, when crafted into the form of a literary piece of work, like a poem, novel or short story.
People all over the world are gradually taking to the literary craft. Being a writer is now reaching a new level of recognition. Almost everyone has a story to tell in which they can share their unique ideas and experiences. Every story created no matter how simple or complex, has the power and potential to make a difference in the life or lives of people who read and appreciate it. They is no bad story, it is simply a story told in its own special way by its storyteller.
There are so many stories, that we have heard over the years. It could be more than a thousand stories shared every day by every storyteller and we are all storytellers, whether we realize it or not. When we write our stories and share them with the world, we are sharing a part of ourselves, our thoughts, feeling and life experiences and this should not be taken lightly. Every story is a tiny reflection of the heart, mind and soul of its storyteller. The stories we leave behind in the world is our legacy and that is the foundation of human civilization, built on the creative and imaginative fertile sands of stories.
