As writers we want to write every day, a few of us can and a few of us cannot do it, though we would love to do it every day. The best way to get into the habit of writing every day is to make it an essential part of your daily routine. We may not all have one hour to sit down in quiet meditation, as we put our thoughts onto paper. However, if we can even keep aside ten minutes of every day to doing some form of literary work, we will be on the way to becoming writers.
When we are faced with a blank page, what do we do? We panic and try to find any excuse to move away from the desk and that blank screen, with its unsaid question, “Do you have anything to say, anything you want to tell the world about, or do you want to just look at my blank face every day?” We call it writer’s block, to describe that time when we cannot find anything useful to say to the world.
The best way to never run out of ideas and things to say is to find your purpose, as a writer. You need to discover within yourself a reason that prompts and encourages you to write every day. Our minds are constantly reacting to everything we see and hear every second of every minute, of every hour, every day. News and stories are constantly bombarding us every day, especially in the twentieth century, with the presence of the internet and social media.
As a writer, I have a million things to say, but it is impossible to just sit down for twenty-four hours just writing about all the topics I have heard about, which I have opinions about during the day. There will not be enough time left to live and to enjoy the reality I live in.
In order to write for change in yourself and in the world, you need to start by looking within to discover what interests you in life. What are the things, people or items in your life that matter to you and why are they so important?
Keep a journal or a blog and write down your thoughts. Once you succeed in your voyage of self-discovery, you will have found that one driving force, that empowers you as a writer. Keep writing for change within yourself and in the world around you. The world definitely needs more writers who write to bring about positive changes in the minds and hearts of the people of the world.
