We are all observers of life as we experience it in its rich, mixed flavors and colors. A person usually breaks due to illness, old age, or after a traumatic event in life. I have observed young people become middle-aged, alone, and tired. I have watched as physically and mentally strong individuals have cracked under stress and the pressures of their jobs and hectic lives. It is always a struggle to balance family and work and, in most cases, the individual feels its adverse effects.
I have watched as young people have either married or in some cases remained bachelors and spinsters. They are lonely in later years, with the unmarried individual alone at home and leading a dull existence. There is no more enthusiasm or zest for life. While the person who married is now in a comfortable relationship, yet appears to be “broken”, with no interest in life as he or she is an unwilling hostage to loneliness when both partners are busy with no time for one another.
I have watched as parents or siblings have been “broken” after a loved one has suffered in a traumatic accident or passed away after such an event. A broken person needs time to heal and to feel better again, to walk, to communicate, to love, and to be confident once more.
How do you feel after seeing a person “broken”, by life’s circumstances? Do you feel sadness within you? I feel unhappy looking at the way, people are gradually made weaker in life, either with age or through unfortunate events, like accidents or illnesses.
Those people who we view as “broken” today, and mere shadows of who they were in their prime, were once happy and healthy individuals too. I sometimes wish that I could turn back time, or make time stand still so that we as human beings do not have to “break” over time. That is a simple wish and one that may never happen, as it is all part of the circle of life, which we have to accept.
