Sometimes it does help to be impatient, to get a job done. It would be better to sit down and wait for things to be done. However, you could be called complacent. My middle name is “Impatience” since I was a child. Perhaps this is because of my active temperament. I do not like sitting around and prefer to get a job done soon. While, making sure that the work is done properly and without errors. I do not like a hasty approach to anything, as the outcome is usually shoddy and not up to the required standards.
With the advent of computers and my entry into the realm of cyberspace, I had to be patient. I knew that a webpage could not load sooner, the work could not be done faster, as the computer needed to accept the command and do what was required. Over the decades, the processing speed of computers have increased a million times. Though it is going to be slow, when the broadband speed is slow or there are glitches on the internet, the service provider or viruses in the computer system.
I have learned to be patient in life, as there are some things that cannot be speeded up, just because you want it to, like queuing up at the bank, at the store, no doubt both can be done online. A long and boring trip in a bus or a train, or when you are stuck in a traffic jam, you are compelled to be patient. I am usually impatient when I am responsible for doing a job, from start to finish. I try to maintain a balance of working fast, yet paying attention to what is being done, so that errors do not creep into the work. “Fast and efficient” is my motto. Are you patient or impatient as a writer, and do you hurry to get a piece completed in the shortest amount of time?
I would still say that “Impatience” is my middle name. Would you say that “Patience” is your middle name, though there are times, when you need to be impatient? I do hope that the day comes when a computer can work at the speed of thought. I am sure that such a day has arrived somewhere in the world. A computer that operates in synchronicity with the human brain would be remarkable.
