Have you been on a shortlist?
It is simply delightful,
To be informed in a message,
That you are on a shortlist.
Imagine, you still have a chance to win,
You hit the air with a pump-fist.
I have been on one shortlist,
Perhaps two, I think during my life.
It was an art competition at school.
However, it was great receiving the news.
Not winning the prize was not so cool.
Have you ever been on a shortlist?
Perhaps you were on one and did not win.
You could have been on a shortlist and won.
Perhaps your feelings were so mixed,
That winning does feel like a magic trick.
The best of the best usually make,
The great and the elusive shortlist.
Out of the last five who could win,
Is it by chance or is great talent rated?
The winner is labelled and always fated.
