Writing Prompt: What Do You Do When You See a Locked Door?
Do you knock on a locked door or find a key to open it?
There are many doors that we come across in life. There are some doors that lead us to our work, some doors open to our family, some for friends and some doors take us to new opportunities in life. What do you do when you see a locked door in life? I would think that your first reaction to a locked door would be to knock on the door, to find a key that opens that door, or you decide to break or remove the door so that you could enter.
If there was a story that you wrote about a shut door, how would your character resolve the situation? Suppose according to the story and the plot, there is a special secret behind a closed door, and the door needs to be opened in order for the story to be completed. As a writer, this concept of a closed door is so exciting and presents a number of great opportunities.
When I see a closed door, I am curious, and I like to know what lies behind it. I would first knock on the door, hoping that there is someone behind that door. I would then knock a few more times and walk away. However, if I write a story or a novel, and the closed door is a barrier for the Hero, I would think about a few exciting ways for him or her to enter. What lies behind a closed door is always intriguing for me, as a writer.
In life, we do come across “closed doors”, that we cannot enter. Those closed doors, stop us from moving ahead in life and from evolving as individuals. It is always a good idea to be open to new doors that lead to interesting opportunities in life. Have there been doors in your life, that were closed and that are now open for you to explore?
