I recently read an article about a Spanish woman who lived in a cave for five hundred days. This was something that she wanted to do and this experiment in survival was completed by her. Beatriz Flamini is an adventurer and she enjoys living alone and off the grid. Her adventures were inspired by the fictional hero Indiana Jones.
Beatriz learned about surviving in difficult conditions and she also became a mountain rescuer, who was called to aid climbers if they got trapped inside caves and mountains. At the beginning of living in the cave, things were exciting for her. However, as the days turned into weeks and the weeks into months, living in the cave got increasingly difficult.
However, Beatriz was determined to overcome this challenge. Food and supplies were sent down to her in the cave. After five hundred days, a weary and pale Beatriz was lifted out of the cave, that was her home and a type of companion for her. When Beatriz ascended from the smile, she had a weak but victorious smile, she had succeeded.
We are all descended from the original cave people. Our ancestors were hunters and gatherers who lived in caves. Would it be possible for humanity to go back to living in caves or have we converted our homes into our modern caves?
It is possible that living in a real cave, away from society and human interaction for a short time, like a week or a month could be beneficial for an individual. For some people, those who enjoy being alone, this may be easy. However, for those of us who enjoy human interaction, living in a real cave disconnected from social media may be impossible. Would you enjoy living in a cave without human interaction for a month?
Writing Prompt: Living in a Cave
I don’t think people lived in caves, but at cave entrance where they had access to sun light and air, a fire hearth to cook, and communicate. Deep inside the cavern in secrecy were rituals performed. Only those initiated to receive the customs of the tribe, rituals expressed in dance , music. Art, dream prophecy and magic medicine. Some yogis may choose the solitude of a cave, but not the deep recesses. Those recesses were found in meditation.
