I don’t think people lived in caves, but at cave entrance where they had access to sun light and air, a fire hearth to cook, and communicate. Deep inside the cavern in secrecy were rituals performed. Only those initiated to receive the customs of the tribe, rituals expressed in dance , music. Art, dream prophecy and magic medicine. Some yogis may choose the solitude of a cave, but not the deep recesses. Those recesses were found in meditation.
