That is very true. Angels are usually not visible. The angel in the poem, is just a statue nothing more and nothing less. The poet saw the statue as a living angel in stone.

Angels fall from the darkness of sky--orbs of golden glow seen in a pure heart’s light within the mighty forgiven.
