Writing Prompt: How Do You Handle Rejection Letters?
Is it something that depresses you or spurs you on?
Most of us, writers, are familiar with rejection letters or emails that we receive, which reject the work that we have submitted. “There is still an opportunity for improvement”, “this piece could have been written after carefully thinking over the idea,” or “we are unable to accept your work at the present moment, due to numerous manuscripts received”, are just a few of the rejections we are familiar with as writers.
However, the dynamics have changed in the field of writing and publishing. We can create our own blogs, publications and even publish our writings independently, without waiting for them to be received, read, forgotten, rejected by established publishing houses. Those fortunate writers who do get published, definitely can be referred to as “the chosen ones” and are truly blessed by the Gods of Publishing.
I have handled these types of rejection letters or emails, by just continuing to do what I enjoy, which is writing and publishing. How do you handle or have handled rejection letters when you have received them, and did they succeed in crushing your spirit and zeal to write? Put all that depression at rejection aside and move forward, writer, with perseverance and fortitude. Remember that rejection letters should spur you on to do better and to continue doing what you love, which is writing and publishing your work, for a world of readers to enjoy.
I was never interested in being traditionally published so I haven't had to deal with rejection letters.
Excellent!
